Salary Calculator

Compare remote developer salaries across all 27 EU countries and the UK — free, no account needed.

Updated: 4/6/2026

The Xeito Salary Calculator is a free tool that shows gross annual salary estimates for remote software developer roles across all 27 EU countries and the United Kingdom. No account required.

What it covers

  • 8 roles — Backend, Frontend, Fullstack, DevOps, Data Engineer, Security Engineer, Mobile, QA Engineer
  • 4 seniority levels — Junior, Mid, Senior, Lead
  • 28 countries — all 27 EU member states plus the UK

Figures are gross annual compensation estimates based on remote job postings indexed by Xeito in Q1 2026. They reflect fully remote roles only — not hybrid or on-site positions, which typically pay 10–20% less at equivalent seniority.

How to use it

  1. Go to xeito.ai/en/salary-calculator.
  2. Select your Country, Role, and Seniority from the three dropdowns.
  3. The result updates instantly — you’ll see the typical median salary and the full range (low to high).
  4. The comparison chart below shows the same role and seniority across all countries, ranked from highest to lowest pay.

No account or sign-up is needed.

Currency notes

All EU countries are shown in EUR (€), including non-euro members (e.g. Poland, Czechia, Sweden) — figures are shown as EUR-equivalent for easy comparison.

The United Kingdom is shown in GBP (£). The comparison bar for the UK uses a GBP → EUR conversion (approximately ×1.17) to rank it correctly against EUR countries.

Key patterns to understand

The location-pay gap is real. Many EU companies — particularly German and Dutch ones — still adjust salaries by where the employee lives. A senior developer in Poland may earn €50k working remotely for a Polish company, but €70–80k working remotely for a German one. The calculator shows market-level estimates; your actual offer depends heavily on the employer’s pay philosophy.

The gap is closing. Remote-first companies (Automattic, GitLab, Basecamp, and many EU-native startups) pay the same regardless of location. As more companies adopt this model, the cross-country gap narrows at roughly 3–4% per year.

Non-euro countries. Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Romania, and Bulgaria all use their own currencies. Figures in the calculator are shown as EUR-equivalent for comparison. Your actual payslip will be in the local currency, and your real purchasing power depends on local costs, not the EUR conversion.

How accurate are the figures?

The figures are estimates, not guarantees. They are derived from job postings and represent the typical range for each combination of role, seniority, and country. Actual offers vary based on:

  • Company size and funding stage
  • Specific tech stack and specialisation
  • Individual negotiation
  • Whether the company applies location-adjusted pay (common in the EU — the Germany–Bulgaria gap for the same senior role is roughly €60k for this reason)

Use the calculator as a benchmark for negotiation preparation, not as a quoted figure.
